Mircea Meleca was dismissed from the post of director of the Civil Aviation Authority by a Cabinet decision on June 15, IPN reports.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said he submitted the dismissal proposal himself given that there are suspicions that Mircea Meleca favored a particular airline by his actions. “These suspicions should not affect the activity of a state institution, such as the Civil Aviation Authority,” he argued.

By another Cabinet decision, Iurie Mocanu was named as vice director of the National Bureau of Statistics. This has worked at the Bureau since 1997, being a specialist in economic statistics. He is an international expert and author of a number of works in the field.
