After the second round of discussions with the Bloc ACUM, the leader of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Grecheanyi said the PSRM cannot concede the post of Parliament Speaker. For its part, the Bloc ACUM noted it is ready to vote in the Socialists’ candidate for Speaker, but only after the package of anti-oligarchic laws is adopted, IPN reports.

Zinaida Grecheanyi told the press that they had consultations inside the Socialist parliamentary group. She said that in a parliamentary country, those who win the most of votes propose the candidate for Speaker. But those from the Bloc ACUM insist on voting their candidates as Prime Minister and on adopting the package of laws they suggested. The PSRM, as the political force for which most of the citizens voted, cannot accept this.

As to the invitation to discussions issued by the Democratic Party, Zinaida Grecheanyi said the internal statutes of the PSRM provide that this issue should be discussed by the party’s National Council. This will be convened later this week. “We didn’t have a mandate and didn’t discuss with anyone except for the Bloc ACUM,” she concluded.

In a posting about the second round of discussions with the PSRM placed on the Facebook page of ACUM, it is said that the Bloc is ready to vote the Socialists’ candidate for Parliament Speaker, but this will happen after the package of anti-oligarchic laws is adopted. “An ACUM Speaker at the first stage is a guarantee of the adoption of this package of laws.”
