The Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party do not take into account the position of the Liberal reformers, with which they formed the government coalition, when they take very important decisions, considers Ecaterina Mardarovici. The executive director of the Women’s Political Club 50/50 has told IPN that a reaction like that of the Liberal reformers, who challenged the concession of the Chisinau International Airport in the Constitutional Court, was inevitable.
Ecaterina Mardarovici said the Liberal reformers have been marginalized and a kind of resentment started to develop that will last until the next parliamentary elections “Those holding the bread and knife will share out, while those without bread and knife will cry that the coalition partners do not behave appropriately,” she stated.
As to the statements of the Liberals led by Mihai Ghimpu, who also opposed the concession of the airport, Ecaterina Mardarovici said they were late in disputing the decision in the Constitutional Court. “There is now a competition and those who will be the first to act will win. The Communists said they will seek explanations. Everyone uses the instruments they have. It is a struggle for voters. Some of the decisions of the Constitutional Court contribute to building an image. The reformers also challenge Article 13 (name of the official language in the Constitution – a.n.) in the court. They will enjoy more advantages if they win,” added Mardarovici.
The Liberal reforming MPs headed by Ion Hadarca on September 9 asked the Constitutional Court to verify the constitutionality of the May 29 Government decision concerning the holding of the contest to concede the Chisinau International Airport. They argued the decision was taken after the dismissal of the Government and the Constitutional Court ruled that the executive had limited powers. Ion Hadarca underlined that the application filed to the court does not mean that the coalition government faces a conflict.
