Beginning today, August 13, until the end of the month, the population registry and documentation offices will work two hours overtime. The schedule was extended at the request of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology because of the high number of ID papers requests during the summer holidays, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the state enterprise “Registru”, between August 13 and 31, its offices will work everyday from 8 AM to 7 PM, except for Sundays. ID issuance requests will be accepted until 6.30 PM. On Sundays, only the Center sector office in Chisinau and those in Balti and Comrat will work, albeit with a short program.
The Center section in Chisinau will work Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM and between 9 AM and 1 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The Balti and Comrat offices will have an 8 AM to 7 PM program from Tuesday to Saturday and 9 AM to 1 PM on Sundays and Mondays.
August 27 and 31, national holidays, will be work days with a program from 9 AM to 3 PM, without lunch break, for the Chisinau Center, Balti and Comrat offices.
Changes have been operated to the services provided by the population registry and documentation offices. On August 18 and 25, they will provide all the services within their competence, including 24h requests, except for the Balti and Comrat sections. On August 26, the “Registru” branches will provide all services, except for 24h requests. On August 27 and 31, the Balti and Comrat offices will provide all services except for 24h requests, while Chisinau Center won't accept 3, 6 and 24 hours requests.
In July, about 1800 requests for biometric passports have been received daily. The figures doubled since March. In the first weeks of August, the number of requests increased as a result of the flow of Moldovans returning from abroad. Compared to last year, the number of requests for biometric passports increased by 60% and for ID cards by 80%.
