Popa&Associates tops Moldovan Corporate Law Firm of the Year rankings

The law firm Popa&Associates heads the Moldovan Corporate Law Firm of the Year rankings compiled by the British magazine Acquisition International. Igor Popa, Managing Partner of Popa&Associates, has told Info-Prim Neo that the magazine assessed the performance and transactions of the Moldovan law firms, the clients’ satisfaction, the position on the market and the lawyers’ professional experience. “We admit there may be a dose of subjectivism in the rankings, but we count on the experience and reputation of Acquisition International,” said Igor Popa. The award ceremony will take place in London in the near future. Popa&Associates cooperates with such well-known law firms as Musat&Associates based in Bucharest, King&Bond of Beijing, the Washington-based law office Ismail and others. “We decided to extend into other countries as many of our clients abroad, for example in France and Germany, prefer that we work with them like an entity in Europe, owing to the VAT-related conditions, the confidence in companies and other economic factors. We are now developing the representative office in Germany. All our efforts pursue one goal – to be closer to the clients,” said Igor Popa. He explained that the presence of law offices in Europe will favor the Moldovan producers who want to penetrate the European market. The economic entities usually do not have the capacity to study the market and to promote products and the lawyers can help them find out more about the conditions and legislation in a European country at a reasonable price. “We will soon launch a new project – Lawyer Desk. Within this project, seminars will be held in Moldova, where lawyers from France and Germany will give Moldovan economic entities answers to questions concerning the legislation of these countries and their markets. Also, Moldovan experts will go to France and Germany. The consultancy within the project will be provided free of charge. Such seminars are costly for us, but we already have the experience of such an event organized in Bucharest,” said Igor Popa. The law firm Popa&Associates was founded in 2008 by the Law Department of the consultancy company Consult Group. It has four partners and employs 17 lawyers. Among the firm’s clients are Krajowa, Spolka Cukrowa, Gas Natural Fenosa, SEDICO Pharmaceuticals, and Synevo International. Popa&Associates is an exclusive member in Moldova of the law firm network TagLaw, which brings together independent law companies from all over the world.
