Polling booth curtains to be set up on voters' request

Curtains will be set up in front of polling booths if voters wish so. “If disputes appear in connection to the fact that people wish to vote with the curtain put on, then the members of the respective electoral bureau will have to comply”, Central Election Commission (CEC) chairman Iurie Ciocan told a press briefing at 10:00am, Info-Prim Neo reports. On June 14 the CEC issued an order providing the removal of the curtains. The decision was upheld by the Chisinau Court of Appeals, but yesterday evening, at around 7:00pm, it was reversed by the Supreme Court of Justice. Ciocan said that it wasn't known who challenged the decision at the Supreme Court and that details would be revealed later. “We also want to see which the reasons are”, he added.
