Of the left-wing parties, only the Communist Party (PCRM) has chances of entering Parliament after the November 30 legislative elections and it would win at most 30 seats of MP, politologist Mihai Cernencu, chair at the Moldova Free International University, said in the program “Pahomi” produced by Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
According to the expert, the PCRM’s chances of winning a large number of votes diminished after the defection of a number of members from this party. “The problem of the PCRM is that there are no persons who could disseminate the party’s message that is almost inexistent. The party’s image depends on the old Voronin. Not accidentally MP Maria Postoico is the second in the list of candidates. Voronin didn’t really have who to choose. During four years, Postoico was in the spotlight only after she went to the hairdresser by the Parliament’s car,” said the professor.
As to the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Cernencu noted that he agrees with the opinion polls showing that this party will not enter Parliament. “The PSRM made a mistake when they put Zinaida Grecheanyi at the top of the list. Many people still remember the statements that they will shoot at the protesters made by her after the April 2009 events. In fact, Igor Dodon aims to enter the Chisinau City Hall and is preparing intensely for running for the mayoralty. But he does not have many chances here either as he will no longer be supported by the PCRM,” he stated.
Even if polls show that Renato Usatyi is popular with the public and can enter Parliament, Cernencu believes that he would not become an MP. “I don’t think the people will vote for the party whose list includes this personage only because he staged concerts for them,” he said.
