Political parties spent MDL 14 mln on election campaign

The parties competing in the local general elections of June 3 have spent MLD 13.74 mln. The Central Election Commission has approved on Friday, June 1, the financial report on the incomes and expenses of the electoral competitors. According to the report, the biggest part of the total was expended by the Party of Communists – over MDL 3.4 mln, followed by the Christian-Democrat People’s Party – with about MDL 3 mln, the Social Democracy Party – MDL 1.87 mln, the Democrat Party – MDL 1.5 mln and “Moldova Noastra” Alliance – MDL 1.27 mln. The Professionals’ Movement “Speranta Nadejda” has not spent any money, being represented by a single candidate in these elections. Other parties that declared insignificant expenses are: the Party of Law and Justice – MDL 2700, the Centrist Union – little above MDL 35,000 and the European Party – almost MDL 68,000. Three parties – the Agrarian Party, the Socialist Party and the Republican Party haven’t declared their financial reports yet. Two of the electoral competitors declared higher expenses than the income registered on their electoral accounts. These are the Christian-Democrat People’s Party, which exceeded the amount by MDL 640,000 and the European Party – by over MDL 6000. Also on Friday, the Central Election Commission accredited 291 observers on behalf of the League for the Defence of Human Rights, thus bringing the number of poll-watchers to above 2000
