Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin missed the opportunity of the NATO summit in Bucharest to demand enhancing the degree of cooperation with the Alliance, say leaders of the social political movement Actiunea Europeana (MAE) (European Action), Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We are very sorry to find that Vladimir Voronin proved unable to use this single occasion to solve Moldova’s stringent problems as the terrorism, separatism, drugs and human beings trafficking,” the president of the movement addressed a news conference on Wednesday, 9 April.
He has added that, by his reserved attitude displayed at that summit, including towards the hosting country, Romania, the Chisinau regime proved it maintained R. Moldova within the geo-political space of Russian influence.
MAE’s deputy president Andrei Covrig finds that Vladimir Voronin should have focused his speech on the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) between NATO and Moldova and should have joined as many reunions as possible. “The world topnotch gathered in Bucharest. The city became the world’s capital for several days. Not to use this occasion is an important miss for Moldova,” said the deputy president of the movement.
According to another deputy president, Ion Neagu, the enhanced degree of cooperation received by Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina at the summit, and that Moldova should have asked for, too, does not contradict the stated neutrality, ergo it does not violate the Constitution. “Vladimir Voronin should have used this occasion to promote the national interest from the viewpoint of European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” he said.
Commenting on the accusations of plagiarism launched as to the MAE by the Christian-Democrats, Ion Neagu, who had been the Christian-Democrats’ secretary general from 1999 to 2005, has underlined he considers himself to be an co-author of that party’s statements, resolutions and programs, a reason why he believes he is entitled to take over some ideas. “Even though I have used and will use some phrases also contained in those documents, I shall not “plagiarize” for the simple reason I cannot “plagiarize” myself,” concluded the European Action deputy president.
