Political Movement blames Govt. for intervening in flooded areas late

The European Action Movement (MAE) accuses the Government of not acting promptly to help the flood-stricken people, Info-Prim Neo reports. Its president, Anatol Petrencu, told a news conference on Thursday that the actions of the central public administration are not coordinated with the local authorities. As an opposition party, MAE will further monitor the measures undertaken. The party expresses its sympathy with the people suffering from the calamity and vows to help them. MAE's secretary, Mariana Taranu, after visiting Criuleni district, says the locals are indignant about “not being informed on the danger.” Although the national TV and radio stations announce everything is under control, the situation on the spot is vice versa, she said. Mariana Taranu remarks she did not meet any local or central official in the flooded areas on Sunday and Monday. “The services in charge cannot face the floods. The locals do everything by themselves to overcome the crisis,” she said. “The people are not supplied with drinking water and is not aware of possible epidemics.” “The Government was not ready for this emergency, its Reserve Fund being spent in the first 5 months of the year,” MAE's vice president Zoia Jalba has said. This Fund is meant for emergencies, and not for allocating 30 million lei to repair a road necessary for an official, the MP said. She believes the Parliament has to gather urgently to change the state budget law to earmark funds for the flood victims. Her foundation, named “MoldEuro Vector”, collects humanitarian aid for the victims, to be distributed directly through MAE's territorial branches.
