The leaders of the three ruling parties could not reach an agreement to overcome the political crisis in a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti on March 6, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The dialogue between the leaders of the three parties will continue and, when an agreement is reached, they will inform me so that we have other meetings. The aim was not to take decisions today. It’s not the moment in fact,” the head of state said after the meeting. The Filat Government fell in a no-confidence vote in Parliament on March 5. “The event took place yesterday. They must yet ponder over, consult the party members and agree their positions. We do not discuss these issues. The media reported that pressure may be exerted on the head of state, but I’m not a person who yields to pressure. I was a judge. Attempts to exert pressure on me were made earlier. They didn’t manage and will not succeed now either,” stated Nicolae Timofti. The three leaders refused to make statements for the press. They said they agreed that the head of state will be the one who will speak today. On March 8, Prime Minister Vlad Filat is to offer the Cabinet’s resignation. Afterward, the head of state will open consultations with the parliamentary groups so as to identify a new candidate for premiership.
