The accusations made by the Liberal-Democratic MP Veaceslav Ionita against his colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) point to the existence of internal disagreements in the party, related, most probably, to the future election campaign and the compilation of the lists of candidates. The issue was discussed in the program “Place for dialogue” on the public radio station “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.
Political commentator Vasile Croitoru considers that the conflict that appeared is an internal one and is not caused by the oligarchs, as Ionita wanted to present the situation. “Judging by the replies between MPs Ionita and Strelet, something is going on inside the party. I think the conflict is related to Ionita’s work. He was absent from a very important sitting of Parliament and has no excuse for this. The family problems are not an excuse in this respect. I think the created situation is related to the future election campaign, especially the compilation of the lists of election candidates. It’s clear that some of the MPs of a party will no longer find themselves on these lists,” he stated.
Political analyst Roman Mihaes also believes that the statements made by Ionita in a news conference on Monday area related to the future elections. “Ionita’s statements seemed strange to me. I expected that he would apologize publicly, but he used attack tactics and accused his colleagues. It’s something normal for some of the MPs to find ways to enter again Parliament. I think Ionita is one of them,” he stated.
University lecturer Mihai Cernenco also considers that the scandal is related to the compilation of the lists of candidates for the parliamentary elections. “They shift blame on each other, but it’s not excluded that the main reason is that some of the MPs have no chance of being included in these lists again. Anyway, it’s clear that the Government assumed a great responsibility by adopting the 11 very important bills for our country and the EU reacted by increasing the import quotas on Moldovan fruit,” he stated.
In a news conference on July 28, Liberal-Democratic MP Veaceslav Ionita accused the head of the Lib-Deems in Parliament Valeriu Strelet of blocking a number of bills in the legislative body for obscure reasons. As a result, the Government had to assume responsibility and to adopt them. Valeriu Strelet replied that these statements are aberrant, while Veaceslav Ionita showed his anger because he didn’t manage to fulfill someone’s order.
The Government assumed political responsibility before Parliament for a package of 11 bills last week. Veaceslav Ionita, who heads the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance, was absent from that sitting.
