Poland will continue to support Moldova, especially in implementing the European integration agenda, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Vlad Filat. He stated that Moldova is at the top of the list of countries that will receive Polish assistance, as a member state of the Eastern Partnership. Poland planned to offer Moldova €1.1 million in assistance in 2012, which is twice more than a year before, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Moldovan Government’s press service. The Government of Poland decided to maintain the volume of assistance for Moldova in 2013. Donald Tusk expressed his conviction that Moldova will manage to make significant progress in the talks on the Association Agreement with the EU, including as regards the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, and in implementing the Visa Liberalization Plan by the next Eastern Partnership Summit. The Polish official said that Moldova knows how to say what it needs and how to put to good use what it is offered. He approved of the policies concerning the building of confidence between the two banks of the Nistru, saying that Moldova’s integration into the EU will create preconditions for the country’s reunification. For his part, Vlad Filat said that Moldova appreciates Poland’s assistance in promoting reforms and in establishing a constructive dialogue with the EU, taking into account Poland’s increasing role in the European organizations. The Premiers of the two states approved of the way the bilateral economic relations develop, stressing the importance of holding the next meeting of the Moldovan-Polish intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation and of the second forum of Moldovan-Polish businessmen in Chisinau at the start of December. The meeting of Vlad Filat and Donald Tusk took place in Warsaw on October 29. The Premier’s visit to Poland is aimed at strengthening the Moldovan-Polish relations and at developing the bilateral cooperation, including in the context of Moldova’s European integration.
