A number of Polish animations were shown at the Library of Arts “Tudor Arghezi” in Chisinau. The program included productions of the golden age of Polish animation. Senior librarian Anastasia Moldovanu said the event was aimed at promoting Polish animation films and at encouraging the development of Moldovan animation cinematography, IPN reports.
The Library “Tudor Arghezi” insists on the promotion of such activities and cinematography and, especially, on the animated film because the Republic of Moldova also has a history of animation, which should be encouraged, stated the librarian.
“The Polish film is a vibrant expression of the creators. The Polish animation started to develop especially after World War II, when socialist realism was imposed. The Polish people were among the first who renounced socialist realism and created their animated film that is specific, different by the way of expression, by metaphors, by powerful symbols with a very profound philosophical message. The good and new things should inspire us,” said Anastasia Moldovanu.
The librarian noted the event was staged in connection with two Polish holidays - All Saints’ Day and National Independence Day – that are celebrated at the start of November. This is designed to promote Polish culture and traditions in the Polish community of Moldova.
