The Polish and Ukrainian embassies in Moldova will organize the children’s football tournament Euro-2012. The championship will take place in the Children Center Don Bosco in Chisinau, between May 5 and 13, Info-Prim Neo reports. Poland and Ukraine host the European Football Championship Euro-2012 and this inspired the diplomatic missions of the two countries to organize a tournament for children in Moldova. Ukrainian Ambassador Serhii Pyrozhkov said that the competition will be organized for boys that don’t train at football clubs, for children that don’t have this chance. “It will be a chance for them to communicate between themselves, a children’s holiday. The competitions take place between boys aged 7-11 and 12-14. There will also be two teams from the Transnistrian region”, the Ukrainian ambassador said during a press conference. The teams have been selected from various schools in the country. Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Transnistrian leader Evgheni Shevchuk have been invited at the opening on Saturday, May 5, but they have yet to confirm their participation. Polish Ambassador Bogumil Luft said that while the idea came from the Polish side, the Ukrainian Embassy contributed a lot. “We also found sponsors to support us in the organization of the tournaments and the Moldovan Football Federation will provide the necessary equipment and referees for the matches. Besides honors, the trophy, medals and souvenirs, there will be awards for the best player, the best goalkeeper and the top scorer, as well as a fair play award”, said Bogumil Luft. The opening and the first matches will take place on May 5 at the Center Don Bosco in Botanica sector. The final and the awards ceremony are scheduled for May 13. Admission will be free during the whole competition.
