Polish and Romanian women less known to the general public, but who had the courage to change their country of origin, Europe and the world were presented today at an outdoor exhibition, opened at the History Museum in Chisinau, IPN reports.

"Among the protagonists of the exhibition are fighters for independence or women's rights, pioneers in the field of sports, science or arts. It is the fascinating story of 34 Polish and Romanian women," said Bartlomiej Zdaniuk, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Chisinau.

The Polish diplomat said that the exhibition was organized by the Polish Institute in Bucharest on the occasion of the Centenary of regaining the independence of Poland and the Great Union of Romania. "The exhibition takes place in the context of the celebration of the Women's Rights Year, proclaimed by the Polish parliament on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Polish women obtaining full voting rights," stated Bartlomiej Zdaniuk.

Daniel Ioniță, Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, has said that this exhibition is about the important role that women have played over time in the creation of democratic societies. "At this exhibition there are important names that have marked the recent history of Romania, women who have shown that there are no barriers, but only some mental barriers that, with imagination and dedication, could be overcome," specified Daniel Ioniță.

Mariana Vasilache-Curoșu, deputy director of the Chisinau History Museum, the host of the exhibition, has mentioned that the exhibition will be open to the public until November 30. "It is not the first joint project with the Polish Institute in Bucharest. We have very good relations, for over 15 years, and we enjoy all the projects we can carry out together, "said Mariana Vasilache-Curoșu.
