Police officers are examining the bus and railway terminals to identify homeless persons or vagrant children who ran away from home so as to prevent them from freezing. Raids are also carried out at deserted homes and basements, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a working meeting, Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu said there were inspected the ponds and reservoirs. He stressed the owners of these facilities should set up warning signs near them in order to avoid people falling through the ice. In the same meeting, Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said there are no concerns as regards a possible epidemic of viral infections and flu. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said there are 29 shelters, 26 temporary placement centers and 110 social eateries that provide the socially deprived persons with hot meals. “They wok according to a special program during this cold period,” she stated. According to forecasters, the frosty weather will persist until the middle of February. Afterward, it will grow warmer.
