A police officer and a drunken driver were taken to the hospital as a result of an altercation in the evening of August 31. The incident happened in Constantinovca village of Causeni district.
According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, quoted by IPN, two teams of the Inspectorate on duty stopped a car driven inappropriately. The driver disregarded the policemen’ order, but the vehicle was stopped near a nightclub. It turned out that the motorist was drunk.
A number of inebriated persons went out of the nightclub and inquired why the police was patrolling the settlement. In order to calm things down, the police drove away together with the arrested driver. They went to Cainari town to document the case.
At the entrance to Pervomaisc village, a vehicle barred the access of the police cars. Five individuals got off and attempted to take out the police officers and the arrested driver. They hit the police cars and the police officers and demanded that the driver be set free. As a result of the altercation, one of the police officers suffered injuries and was hospitalized. The arrested driver tried to escape, but was caught near a wooded area. During the arrest, the suspect attempted to dispossess a policeman of firearm. A spontaneous shot was fired and the driver was hurt.
Two persons were arrested. One of them has a criminal record. The identity of another three participants in the incident was also established later. The culprits will be punished with fines of 10,000 to 20,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to three years in jail.
