Police warn citizens by SMS about electoral fraud

The police call on the citizens by SMS to report all attempts to buy votes in the runoff presidential election of November 3, IPN reports.

"Dear citizens, be careful about electoral fraud. If someone tries to bribe you, call the Police. The giving of money leads to a fine of 57,000 lei or imprisonment of up to five years, while the taking of – to a fine of 37,500 lei," reads the warning message sent by the Police.

The police recommend the citizens to be vigilant and report any electoral corruption attempt. "Only through the active involvement of everyone can we ensure a fair and transparent election, without illegal influences," said representatives of the General Police Inspectorate.

On the last weekend alone, more than 200 electoral corruption reports were drawn up.
