The police warn that in a new online scam, people receive messages on their phone with false information about the need to provide additional data to receive an alleged package that is to be delivered, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, messages with inauthentic information about an offer that is hard to be rejected or free of charge can also be received. In addition to the text, the messages include a link that, once it is accessed, the user is redirected to a scam website where they are asked to enter bank card details or other personal information. Through such a link, programs that infect the mobile device can be spread.

The police advise the people not to click on links they receive, not to respond to received messages, to mark suspicious messages as SPAM, to download applications only from official sources, not to enter personal or bank information on unverified websites, and also not to communicate to anyone the OTP code received from the bank.
