The General Police Inspectorate warns the citizens that messages with false content are distributed through email addresses. Cybercriminals send a false summons by e-mail, in which the recipient is accused of committing a sexual crime, IPN reports.
The police say that the purpose of these false messages, spread online, is to extort money from victims. In order not to be arrested, the offender asks the addressee for additional information and money.
For credibility, scammers use the logos of public institutions and the names of their managers. The State Tax Service informs that false messages are sent with the illegal use of the identity of the institutions.
The police urge the citizens to be vigilant and to get information only from official sources and, if they have received such a message, to immediately notify the police on 112.
