Police trains pedestrians

Chişinău.03.04.06.InfoPrim Neo/oxa/ Road Police organizes an ample action to get more sensitive the population over the need to respect the circulation rules in order to reduce the number of accidents involving pedestrians.
The Road Police reported that about 43% of the total number of accidents in 2005 are pedestrians’ hitting, and the operation “The pedestrian” wants to contribute to substantial improvement of the situation.
The statistics show that every 7-th injured pedestrian in accidents is guilty of its production, every 9-th dead or injured child in accidents was not attentive while crossing the street and got under the car.
The inspector of the road circulation security, administrative security and public relations service of Chisinau Road Police, Ion Roscovanu, noted that the operation is organized in the capital as well, where almost every day, there are registered 2-5 pedestrian hitting. For example, on Sunday evening, on avenue Mircea cel Batran a BMW car hit two youngsters, who were hospitalized with serious traumas. The girl, aged 21, had a poly-traumatism, shoulder fracture, concussion of internal organs and traumatic shock, and the young man, aged 22 –crania-cerebral trauma, mental shock and thighbone fracture. In the same day, an Opel hit on avenue Dacia a drunken young man, aged 24. The young man was hospitalized with cranial-cerebral injury.
He mentioned that, while organizing the operation, on the streets with high traffic are working cars of Road Police equipped with sonar devices, and on avenues Stefan cel Mare, Decebal, Moscova, Negruzzi, streets Ismai, Ion Creanga, Bogdan Voievod, Alecu Russo, Cale Iesilor will work Road Police filters.
The action “Pedestrian” will be held until 12 April 2006.
