Police suspect arson in Comrat building

Firefighters in Comrat town rescued five persons from fire, including a child. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out on the stairs of an apartment building located om Serghei Lazo St in Comrat. The flames destroyed a baby carriage and a wardrobe on the landing and extended to the doors of the apartments. The rescuers and firefighters responded promptly and saved five persons, one of whom a child aged one year and a half, and property to the value of 500,000 lei. The fire caused damage estimated at 2,000 lei. Police say most probably it was an arson. The 234 fires that happened in Moldova this year caused 43 deaths.
