The municipal police consider the Chisinau administration should choose another place for holding public events than the Great National Assembly Square, as the Green Theater or the stadium of the Technical University of Moldova. The municipal police chief Silviu Musuc said the traffic congestion in central Chisinau will be thus prevented, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca supports this proposal partially. He considers there is no other suitable place where to hold the festivities dedicated to the Independence Day, the Day of Chisinau, the Language Day and other events. The mayor agrees that Stephan the Great Blvd. shouldn't have been closed for traffic on the International Children's Day, when there was held the asphalt drawing contest. According to Chirtoaca, the contest could have taken place elsewhere and the street would have been closed only during the children's parade. The main arteries should be closed only when at least 50,000 people are expected to take part in the events, Dorin Chirtoaca said.
