Police seizes tonnes of expired meat

The police unveiled a sausage manufacturer in Cimislia, which allegedly admitted severe breeches in processing and keeping meat. 3,200 kg of meat worth 200,000 lei and 220 kg of sausages worth 8,500 lei were discovered to have their expiry date over, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Interior Ministry. “They planned to use the expired meat to make sausages and then sell them. The goods were to be sold in the district and in the country's south. The 55-year-old manager of the firm could produce no explanation about the origin of the meat and its destination,” reads the Ministry's web page. In Balti, the police discovered a store selling poultry meat, illegally imported. 1,500 kg of chicken thighs coming from US had their expiry date over. The merchandise is assessed at 43,000 lei. The firm's manager is 31 and lives in Balti. A similar case was discovered in a wholesale store in Edinet town, where 1,755 kg of chicken thighs worth 50,000 lei were discovered. The 32-year-old owner could not present origin documents for the goods. The police is investigating the all the cases.
