The police today recorded about 140 alleged violations of electoral legislation. The complains came from citizens, observers, competitors and electoral officials. In 60 cases, the allegations didn’t prove out. This was stated by National Patrol chief Marin Maxian during a press briefing.
According to Marin Maxian, no serious incidents were recorded, except in Varniţa, where a mobile voting unit heading to the Bender prison was stopped at a checkpoint on the administrative border with Transnistria and not allowed to pass. Criminal proceedings were initiated and the OSCE Office was informed about the incident.
Maxian also said there were five cases of vote-buying, three cases of organized transportation of voters to polling stations to vote for a particular competitor. In four cases the police documented offering of alcohol as a way to influence voters. In eight cases the voters tried to take out ballot papers out of the polling station. In two cases it was established that the observers were under the influence. There were three cases of taking snapshots of ballots. Administrative proceedings were initiated in all these cases.
