The police recommend to ask a reliable neighbor or a friend to supervise the home if you are away during holidays so as to prevent burglaries and to leave a contact number where you could be found to them, IPN reports.

The Chisinau Police Division warns the population that the persons predisposed to acts of hooliganism can profit from the absence of owners and their inattention in the period.

The police also recommend not allowing persons who sell plates and dishes, detergents and other things to come in as the so-called sellers can distract attention with the aim of stealing.

The children should be trained how to act when unknown persons try to convince them that they are the friends or workmates of their parents and came after the apartment keys or other things.

The owners of apartments on the first floor or of private homes are advised not to leave the windows open at night and to install security bars or alarm systems at the windows that can be entered.

When in public transport stations, attention should be paid to persons with suspect behavior who are nearby. The money for fare should be prepared beforehand and money should not be kept in back pockets, while the bag should be supervised permanently.

In case of theft, one should call 902.
