The General Police Inspectorate imposed the first penalties on those who endangered the health of citizens and prevented the authorities from taking prophylaxis measures against COVID-19, IPN reports.

The police recorded two such cases during the last 24 hours. A man aged 43 from Briceni town misled the emergency medical assistance service by calling it at 5:30pm and saying that he is infected with the novel coronavirus. In the second case, a 27-year-old man from Drochia misinformed the 112 service that he recently returned from Italy and is infected with COVID-19.

The two men face fines of 1,500 to 3,000 lei or 40 to 60 hours of community service.

In another case, a business entity operating in Chisinau was fined 75,000 lei for not respecting the pandemic prophylaxis and combating measures, endangering thus public health.
