Two policemen aged 22 and 24 died, while a girl aged 18 suffered serious injuries when the car by which they travelled skidded off the road and crashed into a roadside tree near Stefan Voda town last night.
The head of the press service of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Tamara Procopii has told IPN that the two young men who were employees of the Public Security Subdivision of the Stefan Voda Police Inspectorate. They travelled by the personal car and were off duty.
As a result of the collision, the 22-year-old driver died on the spot, while the other young man on the way to the hospital. The young woman was hospitalized in a serious condition with a backbone trauma.
Tamara Procopii said poor visibility is one of the preliminary causes of the accident. It is also alleged that the driver was speeding. An investigation is under way.
