A police officer is suspected of having asked a €5,000 bribe from a woman in exchange for his influence in releasing the woman's domestic parter from arrest and ending procedures against him, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Anticorruption Center, the 32-year-old officer claimed he knew some influential persons at the Ciocana District Police Department and at the Ciocana Prosecutor's Office who could accept to release the arrestee. The officer was caught red-handed in his office as he was taking €4,000 from his 'client'. The remaining amount was supposed to be paid on request. A person found guilty of such an offense is liable to a fine of up to 60,000 lei or to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years. From the beginning of the year, there were discovered 188 cases related to corruption, 19 of which involved law enforcement officers.
