Police officer gets two years for traffic of influence

A senior sector policeman of the Soroca Police Inspectorate was sentenced to two years in jail for traffic of influence. He was also banned from holding public posts during three years, being arrested in the courtroom after the sentence was passed, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the police officer was arrested in February, at the head office of the Soroca Police Inspectorate, when he, together with a colleague of his, received 6,000 lei from two residents of Soroca district. They asked by 3,000 lei from each of the two for not holding them accountable for hooliganism.

The culprit’s colleague was sentenced earlier, after he admitted his guilt and signed an agreement with the prosecutor. He got two years and was banned from holding public posts for a period of two years.
