A sub-officer of the Bălți Police Inspectorate was arrested with bribe that he asked and took for not imposing a fine on the manager and an employee of a hairdresser for not filling out the anti-epidemic measures monitoring register and because a female client didn’t wear a protective mask while being served, IPN reports.
To spare them from the fine of 75,000 lei that is imposed in such cases on legal entities and of 22,500 lei in the case of private individuals, the police officer asked for 7,000 lei.
The National Anticorruption Center said the man faces five to ten years in jail, a fine of 300,000 to 400,000 lei and ban on holding public posts or carrying out particular activities for a period of seven to ten years for passive corruption. He was arrested for 72 hours.
