Democratic Party representatives from Balti and Orhei accuse the police of getting involved into the electoral campaign by shirking from their duty to protect the electoral billboards of some contestants and by excessively protecting the Communists posters.
“The forces responsible to insure the stability are actually involved in destabilizing elections,” Orhei mayor Ion Stratulat told a news conference on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Pavel Ianet, the chairman of the PD's branch from Orhei, the party's posters are vandalized by unidentified people shortly after being posted. “As far as we know it's a team of four, driving a car without number plates,” Ianet said.
Unlike the billboards of other electoral contestants, the PCRM's posters enjoy a privileged status. “There is a billboard of the PCRM right at the entrance in Orhei, which is protected by a police car, while at a distance of 50 m there is a billboard of another political party, which gets cut,” Ianet said.
According to Ion Bodrug, a PD councilor from Balti, the quarters of the party in Balti also got vandalized. The quarters are in Balti's downtown near the quarters of the Intelligence Service (SIS) and the municipal court, and the area is permanently watched by a patrols . “The police is very earnest with our volunteers posting posters, but it does nothing when such a rascality happens right in the town's center,” said Ion Bodrug.
