The Zoo and “Scut” Regiment failed to reach an agreement regarding the police horses. Zoo director Alexei Hantatuc insists the horses should be evacuated, according to a court ruling, while Chief of Police Silviu Musuc hopes the animals will stay at the Zoo. “When I tried to speak to someone from the “Scut” board, they reacted as if they enjoyed some special protection from the government”, Hantatuc told Info-Prim Neo. Igor Gori, head of “Scut” Regiment, says he won’t comment until Chisinau Municipal Council announces it decision. 28 police horses have been accommodated for 5 years at the Zoo. The Zoo director complains that since 2004 he has been obliged to cover the expenses of keeping the horses. June 27, 2010, he won a trial and the court ruled the immediate evacuation of the animals, but the decision was challenged and the horses’ fate remains undecided until the next trial.
