The police discovered the identity of the man who drowned in the Nistru River and whose body was recovered in the morning of January 13. This is a man aged 21 from Sangera village of Chisinau municipality.

The head of the press service of the General Police Inspectorate Sabina Cojusnean has told IPN that on January 12, the young man, together with some friends, crossed the Nistru on ice from Tabuleuca village. They wanted to get to a village in Transnistria. He went back alone, following the same way. When he was about 100 meters from the bank, he fell under the ice.

Several fishermen heard him crying and called the rescuers, but the help came too late. The frogmen recovered the body only the next day.
