Police confiscate 50 tonne of sugar smuggled into Moldova

The police seized 50 tonnes of sugar that was brought into Moldova without paying customs duties. The sugar was transported by two trucks. The police stopped them for a check in Gradinita village of Causeni district, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Police Division of the Ministry of the Interior, the contraband sugar is worth over 600,000 lei. It was established that the merchandise was smuggled from Ukraine for being sold in Moldova. Under the Criminal Code of Moldova, the fine for avoiding paying customs duties is up to 6,000 lei.
