Police confirm City Hall bomb alert was hoax

After 24 hours from an anonymous phone call, police have confirmed the bomb alert at the Chisinau City Hall was a hoax, Info-Prim Neo reports City Hall staff may now return to their offices. Chisinau Police spokesman Adrian Jovmir said the caller, presumably a man, hasn’t been identified yet. From the beginning of the year the Chisinau police have registered 5 false bomb alerts. The Russian-speaking man who called yesterday Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca’s antechamber warned that the City Hall would explode unless acting president Mihai Ghimpu revoked his decree pronouncing June 28 to be the Soviet Occupation Day. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca is the vice president of the Liberal Party, led by Mihai Ghimpu, and also Mihai Ghimpu’s nephew.
