Police car crashes into pillar, five persons injured

A police car skidded and went into a pillar in Chisinau's Buiucani sector this morning. The accident happened at the intersection of Vasile Lupu St and the Constitution Square. The three police officers and the wife and 13-year-old daughter of one of them, who were in the car, were hospitalized. “According to eyewitnesses, the police car had the flasher and siren on,” Adrian Jovmir, spokesman for the General Police Commissariat, has told Info-Prim Neo. The circumstances of the accident are being established. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Tudor Capatana, PR specialist of the Traffic Police Division, said the accident happened at about 7.15. One more car was involved in it, but that car did not touch the police car. There were two police officers of the Scut Regiment and one of the Fulger Regiment in the car. Eufalia Negreata, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Ambulance Service, said the five persons who were hospitalized received medium injuries. The police officers suffered head injuries, the driver's daughter – a leg fracture, while his wife – a fracture of the nasal bones. The police car was seriously damaged.
