Police bodycam footage to be admitted as evidence

Footage from body cameras on police officers will be considered admissible evidence, as the Government approved a new Regulation to this effect that replaces a set of provisional rules.

Body cameras shall be used overtly, with the MoI officers having to inform anyone they interact with about this. For a team of at least two officers, a minimum of one camera will be provided. Video recording must be started for any response to emergency calls, for on-site investigations, for searches and whenever there is a threat to life and safety of members of the public or officers.

Recordings must be kept for 180 days, after which they shall be automatically erased in the order they were uploaded to the server. The data will be kept on the common governmental platform MCloud and access will be restricted for unauthorizes parties.
