The new protests staged by the followers of Salvgardare NGO have ended in clashes with police in Chisinau's downtown, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In front of the the Government's building, a group of retirees gathered on Tuesday to hand a list of claims to the authorities.
According to Maia Laguta, the president of the association, the participants have drafted a document to be handed to the Government after the end of the protests. They ask for adopting a law allowing the civil society to control “the activity of the state leader,” for pensions as large as the minimum subsistence basket – 1,315 lei. The expect the Cabinet to provide them with an answer within a month.
As Maia Laguta forced the Government's door to hand the claims, she was stopped by the police arguing she needed to pre-register in order to be received by the Prime-Minister.
A protester, asking to go unnamed, has stated the behavior of rulers and police with the people claiming their rights is inhumane and need no comments. “Instead of protecting us and taking out the guilty ones of this situation to explain the things to us, the police fights us,” she said.
Salvgardare's followers vow to protest on Tuesdays once in two weeks until they reach an agreement with the rulers.
Salvgardare was founded in 2005. It has been protesting for several months in front of the Government, but has reached no result.
