A Moldovan and a foreigner are suspected of organizing video chats with young women who provided sexual services online in different public places such as libraries, cafes and parks and in rented cars, IPN reports.

Ana Revenco, director of the National Investigations Inspectorate’s Center for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, told a news conference that the two men aged 30 and, respectively, 35, were arrested. They are suspected of recruiting girls from socially deprived families to provide live sex services. So far there were identified nine women, aged between 18 and 23, involved in this activity.

For the provided services, the clients transferred money to accounts opened by the organizers abroad. The cash was withdrawn through Moldovan banks.

The police continue the investigation so as to identify other persons involved in this illegal scheme.

Under Moldova’s legislation, procuring is punished with up to ten years in jail.
