Four minors aged between 12 and 14 were arrested on suspicion that they stole bicycles from stairs of apartment buildings located in Centru and Botanica districts of Chisinau. The Chisinau Police Division said the four were arrested after they stole four bicycles left in the stairs of a building, IPN reports.
Earlier, the minors were arrested for similar offenses and also for thefts from cars and kidnappings. The police established that the minors sold the stolen bicycles to individuals at an agricultural market in Centru district. The buyers were identified and were summoned to the police inspectorate for questioning. The bicycles were seized from them.
It is presumed that the teens stole over 30 bicycles during the last two months. After stealing the bicycles, they sold them immediately at low prices. The four face a fine of 6,000 to 20,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to four years in jail.
The police warn the population to ensure the protection of their personal possessions and call on those who were robbed to submit complaints to the Botanica Police Inspectorate.
