Police arrest four members of a criminal group

One of the leaders of a criminal group, Alexandru Sinegur, suspected of committing a number of murders, including the case of businessman Piotr Sari, has been extradited by the law enforcement bodies of Russia and escorted on Friday to Moldova, head of the operative service Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Ghenadie Cosovan, announced on Tuesday, February 6, at a press conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the cited source, the head of the so-called “Iujnaia” group, which the suspect joined, is a native of Reni town, Ukraine, while Sinegur is one of the leaders of this group. The international group was dealing with paid killings, kidnapping, and extortion of millions of dollars from businessmen. In this regard, Cosovan says that the group became well-known in Ukraine, committing 18 murders and kidnappings in all. The group succeeded in extorting 1.5 mln dollars from a businessman in Odessa city. Cosovan asserts that businessman Piotr Sari was assassinated by this group. Four members of the group are already under arrest of Moldova’s police. Sari’s family accuses the communist MP Vasile Iovv of ordering this murder. Earlier, Sinegur was arrested for banditry and murder, but the court set him free, head of the operative service Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs added. Cosovan specified that Grigore Caramalac, alias Bulgaru, who is in Russia, will be also extradited by the end of the current year.
