The police discovered a criminal group that was selling drugs in the north of the country. Two persons are suspected of involving students in the illegal business, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A 35-year-old woman from the municipality of Balti was caught in the act of selling 700 grams of poppy straws. Another 600 grams of poppy straws were found in the attic of the house of the second suspect. Interrogated by the police, the 50-year-old man from Tarnova village of Donduseni district confessed that he cultivated poppy in his own garden in order to make drugs for sale, the Ministry says in a communiqué. If found guilty of illegal distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances or analogues, the two would serve up to 7 years in jail. Employees of the Interior Ministry’s Antidrug Division discovered recently another two cases of preparing, using and distributing narcotic substances. During a routine check, the police found drugs worth about 56,000 lei on the black market in the trunk of a car driven by a man aged 34. In another case, a man aged 33 is suspected of transporting drugs that were to be passed on to a prisoner held in Pruncul Penitentiary. The suspect was arrested near the South Bus Station. According to the Ministry, the man had a packet of vegetal greenish substance with specific smell looking like marijuana on him. The 60 grams of narcotic substances were hidden in tea boxes. The police are investigating the cases to find persons involved and take legal action.
