The police documented the altercations that occurred at the protest mounted by representatives of the Azeri community in Moldova, which involved protesters and representatives of the Armenian community, and those involved will be held accountable in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the police, while the protesters were near the Embassy of Armenia in Moldova, a conflict arouse between the mentioned groups and the police intervened together with representatives of Inspectorate General of Carabineers, dispersing the participants and ensuring public order during the march.
Representatives of the sides were invited to discussions so as to remedy the situation and avoid incidents and to restore the friendly relations between the ethnic groups.
According to the preliminary statement of the Congress of Azeris in the Republic of Moldova, a peaceful protest was to be mounted at a number of venues in Chisinau municipality between 10am and 12 noon. The organizers said the march was in protest at the provocation staged by the armed forces of Armenia against Tovuz region on the Azeri-Armenian border and in support of the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
