The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland issued a statement in which it says it assesses in a positive way the conduct and results of the voting in the snap parliamentary election in the Republic of Moldova. According to the opinion of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission, they were organized in a well-administered, orderly, competitive way with respect of fundamental freedoms. “We note with satisfaction the results of the election which clearly demonstrate that the main motivation of voters was to finally get rid of the legacy of post-Soviet system, to deoligarchize the country and implement reforms in a real – and not only theoretical – way,” runs the statement that is quoted by IPN

The election showed that the reformist forces in the Republic of Moldova under the leadership of President Maia Sandu have a clear public support. This strong mandate is a bulwark for President Sandu but it also creates a commitment for her to prove efficiency of her programme. Poland is ready to support the Republic of Moldova in the difficult process of return to the path of real changes which would put this country back again in the group of associated states most strongly tied with the European Union.

“We declare our readiness to cooperate with the new government of the Republic of Moldova in terms of support to modernization process, multilateral cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe as well as in traditional bilateral political and economic dialogue,” says the statement.
