The Republic of Poland has constantly supported the Republic of Moldova on its European path and in these difficult times shows unprecedented solidarity and friendship, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița stated in a meeting with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda in Warsaw, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

The meeting of the Moldovan delegation led by Natalia Gavrilița and President Andrzej Duda was held at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. The officials conferred on the security situation in the region and on the economic consequences and successive crises caused by the war in Ukraine. They reaffirmed the joint aspiration to peacefully solve the military conflict and to restore peace in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița thanked the Polish official for the significant financial and logistic contribution to managing the refugee crises and for the €20 million loan offered to the Republic of Moldova. “During these days, we managed to establish valuable intergovernmental ties that will be useful in the process of fostering our bilateral relationship,” stated the Premier.

President Andrzej Duda said that he regrets the unfavorable circumstances created in the region and noted that Poland is ready to step up its cooperation with the Republic of Moldova. “I’m firmly convinced that the establishment of a solid friendly relationship will help us to overcome this extremely difficult situation. Both the Republic of Moldova and Poland are neighbors of Ukraine with profound economic and humanitarian ties. Therefore, it is our moral duty to offer all the necessary support to the citizens of Ukraine,” stated the official.

The interlocutors also discussed the broad reform program initiated by the Government and the measures taken by the two states to alleviate the economic impact of the regional crisis.
