The problems with water supply in the village of Popenki in the Transnistrian region have been solved after the the community's water main was renovated with money offered by Polish authorities as part of the small grants program for infrastructure development in rural communities, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The proposal to include communities from the Transnistrian region in the program was made by Poland's Ambassador to Moldova Krzysztof Suprowicz.
Metal pipes were replaced with plastic piping of a smaller diameter, which increased pressure and improved pumping times. At the same time, unauthorized consumers were disconnected from the system.
Negotiations are being held with the Polish Embassy to include other Transnistrian communities in the program.
