Poland grants Moldova 1 mln zloty to mitigate drought effects

Poland has granted Moldova 1 million Polish zloty (about 366,000 US dollars) to mitigate the effects of this year’s drought. Krzsztof Suprowicz, Polish Ambassador to Moldova, today has delivered he letters of confirmation from the Polish Government to PM Vasile Tarlev. At the meeting, the diplomat mentioned the good relations of cooperation and mutual support between our countries, as well as Poland’s increased interest in Eastern Europe. “Moldova is one of the main priorities of the Polish Government’s development assistance and we are ready to offer full support when it is needed”, the Polish diplomat said. Krzsztof Suprowicz expressed satisfaction with the positive trends of the bilateral trade, which is expected to amount to 200 million US dollars this year, up nearly 70 percent from last year. The Prime minister pointed out that the money offered by Poland will be transferred to the account of the Agriculture Risk Fund, while the governmental commission together with the experts in the field will decide who will be the recipients of the aid. Vasile Tarlev launched the initiative to consider opening direct flights from Chisinau to Warsaw, which will strengthen Moldova-Poland business ties.
