The Central Election Commission partially admitted the challenge filed by the representative of the Communists Party (PCRM) at the CEC over the commercial of the National Liberal Party (PNL), which urges the voters to take part in the September 5 constitutional referendum and exercise their right to choose a head of state that will promote the union with Romania, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Thus, the CEC decided to oblige the PLN, which is a referendum campaign participant, to withdraw the electoral commercial from all the mass media institutions and to ban the media organizations from broadcasting the commercial. All the related documents were sent to the Ministry of Justice. But the PNL was allowed to publish the commercial on the Internet as, according to the regulations concerning the covering of the campaign for the referendum, the websites of the parties and other sociopolitical organizations are not subject to control by the CEC.
On August 19, the PCRM’s representative at the CEC Serghei Sarbu submitted a challenge, demanding that the electoral commercial of the PNL be banned. For its part, the PNL submitted an application to the CEC, asking that the challenge filed by the PCRM be rejected as groundless.
